Most of what’s sold as “yoga” today stops at the body. Stretch here, strengthen there, feel a little calmer, go home. What I’ll be teaching you is different. It’s balanced — yes, the body matters, and we will work with it but from a different angel, as the body is the doorway, not the destination.

Every joint in you is more than a hinge. It’s an energy node, a place where the life-energy in your system pools and moves. Most people use their joints their whole lives without ever knowing this, and only notice them the day they stop working. We’re not going to wait for that day.

Through the practices that you will learn we’ll begin to consciously open what’s usually left running on autopilot. Not to relax you. To wake you up.

And this is the part most yoga classes never touch: your spine isn’t just your posture. Everything you have ever experienced, every sound, every sight, every joy, every ache, has moved through it. It is, quite literally, how you know the world exists at all. When you bring a little mastery to what runs through your spine, you stop experiencing life by accident. You start determining it.

That is the actual promise of yoga. Not a better body. A different relationship to being alive.
